Don't delay! Why you need to service your equipment regularly

If your equipment seems to be running smoothly, it can sometimes be easy to delay (or forget about!) booking it in for a service.


It’s important to keep and maintain a regular servicing schedule to ensure your equipment continues to remain safe, efficient, and optimal.


Here are a few reasons why you should make servicing a priority:


  • There might be issues with the equipment that you aren’t aware of. Allowed to go unchecked, this could turn into a larger issue that could cause a multitude of bigger problems. And bigger problems are expensive problems.

  • As the equipment wears, the quality of the product being produced by the equipment may deteriorate. This could potentially result in loss of business, reputation, and profit.

  • Safety. You can’t put a price on the health and safety of your colleagues, and yourself. Regardless of how much health and safety you do or provide, remember, you can’t control equipment failure.

  • It will prolong the life of your equipment. It’s highly likely that the costs of not servicing your equipment will outweigh the costs of doing so regularly. If an issue presents with your equipment, it’s possible that this could result in unplanned downtime and loss of business.

  • Increased efficiency. If your equipment is running at optimal level, chances are, so will your business production.

  • It will increase the value of your equipment. If you’re ever looking to sell your equipment, having a proven, regular maintenance schedule will go a long way in getting you the best possible price.


If you’re wondering how often you should get your equipment serviced, here are some examples:


  • Sensors – Can vary from sensor to sensor but commonly every 6 to 12 months.

  • Feeding systems – Can vary depending on usage. Normally every 3 to 6 months.

  • VSDs – 12 monthly.  

  • Cameras – 6 to 12 months.
